FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Atlanta Falcons and Chisel 3D Team Up for 2010 Season
Atlanta, GA, August 11, 2010 – Atlanta Falcons fans who visit Falcons Landing before NFL home games at the Georgia Dome are in for a big treat. Towering above the crowd in the pre-game entertainment zone will be 10-foot-tall sculptures of the Falcons’ “Super Fan” and “Riser,” a hulking Falcons player.
The giant characters caused quite a stir when they debuted in 2009, with Falcons fans lining up for photos before every game. For 2010, they have been updated with the Falcons’ new “Rise Up” theme. “The fans loved them so much last year we just had to bring them back,” said Roddy White, Atlanta Falcons director of event marketing and client services. “We’re thrilled with the way our partners at Chisel 3D incorporated our ‘Rise Up’ campaign with the Super Fan’s body paint and naming the player Riser.”
Chisel 3D, an Atlanta theme design and fabrication company, came up with the idea to create the characters and pitched it to White before the 2009 season. Gary Bystrom, Chisel 3D president, was overwhelmed with the fan reaction. “It’s great to see how excited people get. Last year, even some of the opposing teams’ fans wanted pictures.”
Chisel 3D uses three-dimensional scanners, computer-controlled sculpting equipment and skilled artists and craftsmen to create original characters like the Super Fan and Riser, as well as lifelike sculpture of animals, products and other items. Examples of their work in Atlanta include a trio of life-sized dinosaurs at Fernbank Museum of Natural History; and sea turtles, a grouper and a coral exhibit at Georgia Aquarium. The company has also done work for Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, Monster.com, Staples, General Mills, Ruby’s Diner, Sikorsky Aircraft and HealthWorks! children’s museum.
