FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Chisel 3D Makes It Big in Atlanta

Atlanta, GA, August 9, 2009 – Since April 2007, Chisel 3D has been busy sculpting product replicas, characters, props, architectural elements and other large-scale pieces out of foam for themed environments across the country. This spring, however, they made their presence known in Atlanta by completing projects for three of the city’s highest profile organizations: Fernbank Museum of Natural History, Georgia Aquarium and the Atlanta Falcons.

In April, the company installed three life-size sea turtles and a five-foot-long grouper in the Georgia Explorer gallery at Georgia Aquarium. In May, they transported three life-size dinosaurs across town to the Fernbank and installed them in the much-anticipated new entrance plaza. In August, Chisel delivered a 10-foot-tall football player and “Super Fan” to the Atlanta Falcons for use at fan events and the Georgia Dome. “We’re excited to finally have our work on display in Atlanta, especially with such great organizations,” says Gary Bystrom, Chisel 3D president and owner. “After creating things for companies everywhere else, it’s gratifying to see our work in our own backyard.”

Chisel 3D uses three-dimensional scanners, computer-controlled sculpting equipment and a crew of skilled artists and craftsmen to create original pieces or exact replicas made of foam. Because foam is lightweight, even after Bystrom’s crew hard-coats it for durability, it’s ideal for making things bigger than life. “We’ve done a 16-foot brain, a 30-foot baseball bat, a 10-foot rubber glove and three-foot Cheerios. In the Fernbank’s case, we didn’t have to oversize their dinosaurs to make them dramatic. The mother was 24-feet-long in real life.”

Chisel’s portfolio is impressive. In addition to the Atlanta venues, the company has done work for Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, Clorox, Staples, General Mills, Ruby’s Diner, Sikorsky Aircraft and HealthWorks! children’s museum.
